This is a WEG product, specifically developed as the WEG Electric Motor – Large Induction Motors for industries that require heavy and reliable power. This motor series is suitable for application in conditions where they are needed to perform at optimal capacity, are durable, and possess high efficiency. This Weg 5 HP Electric Motor is available in a wide power range to satisfy the demand of several sectors, and it comes with multiple attachments. It can work under the 50 or 60 Hz frequencies and provides flexibility in the range of voltage options up to 13.8 kV. Here, the motor comes with IE 2 to IE 5 efficiency classes for the enhancement of energy conservation and ultimately low operating expenses. This motor is also versatile and can be used in an open or closed cooling system depending on the need of a given situation.

The WEG MICATHERM insulation system is based on the Vacuum Pressure Impregnation process (VPI).
Using special epoxy resins, this system ensures perfect insulation of the motor coils, in a process totally free from gases harmful to the environment. For many years, the VPI process has proved its efficiency and reliability in rotating electrical machines in many different applications. The insulation system is applied to machines with voltage of 380 to 15,000 V.


Applications

- Ball Bearings: The standard ball bearing type is adopted with lubrication injection and drain capability for simple maintenance to maintain the motor well running in the long run.
- Insulation System: The insulation system is a F-class but H-class insulation is also available as an option for higher operating temperatures.
- Cooling Fans and Motor Stator: The flow through the cooling system and the stator structure allows cooling and minimizes energy loss that will making the motor effective under difficult working conditions.
- Precautions:
- Installation: The motor must be installed in an environment that can meet the cooling needs of the motor so it is recommended that this aspect be checked. When installing the motor, be pressured to align the motor in a way in which it will be duly cooled and efficient.
- Routine Maintenance: Inspect the motor more often for signs of operation in bearings and check whether lubrication machinery is in order. It is advisable to observe the cooling system and motor windings for every problem from time to time.
- Environmental Considerations: You also need to make certain that the motor’s protection level corresponds to the setting it is going to be placed. If the motor will be subjected to a humid environment or dusty environment then an appropriate IP protection class should be selected and these include IP55 and IP65.
